Handmade Rugs

Handmade oriental rugs don"t usually require much maintenance. They are made to last for at least several decades and in the case of finer rugs of higher quality, an oriental rug can last for centuries. Walking on an oriental area rugs will not hurt them; in fact they are structured for use in high traffic areas. In the case of the natural fibres in your handmade rug being damaged by sunlight or permanent stains, consulting with professional services is recommended. Vacuuming

Vacuuming rugs with a quality machine will go a long way towards prolonging the appearance and life of your rug, we recommend vacuuming at least twice a week to remove excess material that accumulates on the rug surface. Peeling of the rug is normal and no way shortens the life of your rug. It is merely the result of loose fibres created during the weaving process.

Steam cleaning

Steam cleaning is most effective when performed by a professional with all the appropriate equipment. Powder cleaners and deodorizers can cause peeling. If the area is heavily soiled, we recommend a different prcedure or using a professional services.

Stain removal methods

Stains must be treated immediately, when possible, scoop up solids and liquids as soon as spills occur. Absorb as much liquid as possible with a white cloth of paper towel without scrubbing in order to prevent matting or fizzing. Dry foam and absorbent pad is the most recommended method for treating stains in rugs, alternatively you can use a little bit of water to create a light detergent foam to scrub gently in the pile, then vacuum out when dry.
